It seems we were welcoming 2018 just\nyesterday, but now the year is almost over. As you prepare for 2019, you might\nhave a lot on your to-do list, whether you\u2019re planning parties, preparing to receive\nvisitors, or just trying to set goals for the new year. However, you should also\nput a visit to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.puskasdentistry.com\/new-patients.html\">dentist\nin Buckhead<\/a> on that list. Going in for a checkup as soon as you can will\nhelp you make sure that your dental insurance benefits don\u2019t go to waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dental Insurance: Use It or Lose It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most dental insurance policies operate on a calendar-year\nbasis. On January 1, you\u2019re given a specific amount of money that you\u2019re\nallowed to put toward approved services. For most plans, this annual maximum is\nbetween $1,000 and $1,500. If you don\u2019t use that entire amount by December 31,\nthe remaining portion disappears. It doesn\u2019t roll over to the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people do not regularly meet or exceed their annual\nmaximum. In effect, they\u2019re losing out on hundreds of dollars\u2019 worth of benefits\neach year! Of course, this doesn\u2019t mean that you should get unnecessary dental\nwork done just so you can use your insurance. It <em>does, <\/em>however, mean that you should attend regular preventive\nappointments and use your policy to pay for any restorative work that your\ndentist recommends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maximizing Your 2018 Dental Insurance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few more tips to help you get all you can out of your\n2018 dental insurance benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Schedule\na checkup now. <\/strong>If you haven\u2019t already had two routine preventive\nappointments this year, schedule one ASAP. Your insurance will likely cover\nmost (if not all) of the cost of your visit. The dental exam will reveal\nwhether you need any further work. You might even still have time to get any\nminor restorative services done before the end of the year.<\/li><li><strong>Plan for\nmajor services.<\/strong> If you\u2019re concerned that a major service will exceed your\nannual maximum, you might be able to break it up across two appointments between\n2018 and 2019. You\u2019ll therefore be able to use two annual maximums rather than\njust one.<\/li><li><strong>Understand\nyour policy.<\/strong> Does your policy have a waiting period? A deductible? How much\nof a difference is there between the fees at in-network and out of network\nproviders? Familiarizing yourself with the fine print of your policy can help\nyou make wise decisions about how you use it.<\/li><li><strong>Ask for\nadvice.<\/strong> The folks at your dentist\u2019s office are used to dealing with the\nnitty gritty details of insurance.
